Trish Scarborough and Roland Banks

dd

"Voiceover: "Two government agents out to find the truth, through blood if need be!"

Dynamic duo!

This deck is part of a dynamic duo series, and is meant to be played together with one of the two following decks:

Dynamic Duo - Roland Banks

Dynamic Duo - Roland "By the Book" Banks

It works just fine when paired with other investigators too, of course, but some cards might be sligthly less effective.

Synergy

Roland goes on the hunt or takes first watch in order to find an enemy. Trish then does her spying. Roland kills off the enemy afterwards with heavy weapons - or handcuffs it and starts dragging it around for Trish’ sake. They are both really mobile with Pathfinder and Shortcuts, and Trish can auto-evade even elite enemies. All this combines to make them a quick and deadly duo that can run through scenarios.

Parallel Roland was released when I was playtesting this deck. So I made a second deck list with parallel Roland, in case that's more your style.

Weaknesses: 2 and 3 willpower, 6 and 5 Sanity respectively. It hurts - especially in campaigns such as Innsmouth and Forgotten Age. That's why we have Dr. William T. Maleson and Logical Reasoning.

Upgrade path

Important upgrades, in my order of priority

  • Charon's Obol is optional. And you either buy it first - or not at all.

  • Lockpicks, because they are great. In a 2 player group, many locations will have 2 clues on them, and one Lockpick activation along with her Investigator ability will net you both.

  • Stealth. I really like Stealth for Trish. You can get away from enemies without spending too much deck space on buffing agility, as a action. It will bounce any enemy over to Roland if it spawns on you (great for Flamethrowers). And Stealth will help you oversucceed with your Lucky Cigarette Case, help you evade those nasty Shadow Agents AND let you split the party if needed. Just beware hunters that will engage-attack you in the enemy phase.

  • Hiking Boots. Great for Trish. You might want to go for Pathfinder instead, but I enjoy the agility buff.

  • Lucky Cigarette Case will trigger alot and it will net you exactly the card you need when you need it.

  • Gené Beauregard is great for Trish, especially the part where's she's moving clues to your location and enemies away from you or onto Roland. Plus, she's boosting your two favorite stats.

Other upgrades (in any order you’d like)

  • Forewarned will let you drop clues, which can be awfully handy when staring down a Dhole and needing to trigger your investigator ability. And of course, to avoid Frozen in Fear and the like.
  • The curve is a bit high in this deck, so you you'll more resources . I prefer Another Day, Another Dollar because there's no need to draw it or play it. However..!
  • Crafty is an interesting card for Trish. It can help pay for 12 cards in the initial deck, as well as making expensive cards such as Pilfer worth it. I'm not fully convinced, but feel free to try it out.
  • Death • XIII is a boring card, but it might be necessary.
  • Contraband can be a huge boon to Roland (not the parallel one, mind you). If he can get a Flamethrower into play first round and then use his Extra Ammunition on it (easily done with Stick to the Plan), you can double it for a total of 14 ammo.

Tips and advice

  • Always go "even" with Jeremiah Kirby. 2 out of 3 cards in this deck have an even cost (remember, zero counts as even), so he should net you at least 3 cards. Sometimes more.
  • As for Stealth - Testing at 0 difficulty means that you can only fail if you draw the the token. It's an extremely dependable way to disengage from enemies with an Evade of 2 or less.

    Disclaimer

Disclaimer - most of these "dynamic duo" decks are heavily inspired by other decks found here on Arkham. Thanks to everyone who shares the fruits of their labor - this is an amazing community . :)
