This deck is based on Lucky Cigarette Case, Scavenging and Murphy's ability as they have the same trigger: succeed by 2 or more. The combo is pretty powerful, as it draws an additional card, recovers an item from your discard and gains an additional clue. All of that each turn!

It also includes Backpack and many items to use Scavenging more effectively. This gives you cards to commit to support other team members. Lucky Cigarette Case is also an item, for backpack to locate.

This deck has no combat options, you're relying on your allies to take care of enemies. See "variations" section if you need combat options.

Basic Strategy

  • Play Magnifying Glasses and Dr. Milan Christopher to max your , so you can trigger the combo reliably
  • Get Scavenging and Lucky Cigarette Case into play as early as possible.
  • Commit any other items so skill checks. Do NOT play them (unless you need soaks)!
    • Be aware, any action that is not used to play the combo, gather clues, move towards clues or otherwise move the scenario onward is a waste.
  • Use Scavenging to recover these items, preferably with ? symbol
  • Cards below Backpack cannot be commited. The idea is to discard it and return them to your hand with Scavenging.
    • Play Backpack with as many items as possible, preferably with ? symbols
    • Try to discard backpack by playing Fine Clothes or another Backpack. All discarded items can be recovered with Scavenging
    • Recover Backpack with Scavenging and play it again to get more items into your discard pile to commit
  • Play Delve Too Deep near the end of the scenario to gain more XP
    • Preferebly after all other investigators have resigned so only you draw an encounter card.
    • Resign action does not provoke attacks of opportunity, enemies drawn do not matter if you're at the resign location

Just a note, you don't actually have Cherished Keepsake in your deck to upgrade.

Thanks, that was supposed to be Old Book of Lore. I copied the description of my "Minh the backpacking Scavenger" deck and changed the discription, but i must've missed this.

Same with Leather Coat should be Fine Clothes.

I'll be giving a very similar build a go this weekend.

Thanks again, but you're wrong. Bulletproof Vest is a icon upgrade so it should replace Medical Texts.

Fine Clothes are there to discard the Backstab and maybe as soak.

We're trying this out with some changes, but I just can't make it work. Not only is it very reliant on scavenging, it also feels rather painful to play backpack+fine clothes or another backpack just to get a couple more cards in the graveyard.

I'd rather spend my slots on more universally useful cards, and use key of ys to get cards in my discard pile after it dies.

What about Archaic Glyphs? Is it just for commiting and not upgrading, like Strange Solution?

I've included them so to commit for and maybe to upgrade, incase other are present.

However upgraded Archaic Glyphs are no longer items, so they don't fit into this deck's strategy. But you're welcome to modify it.

With that much draw and scavenging, I feel like it's a shame not to mention Ancient Stone and upgrade(s) in the Upgrades section.

The deck is 2 years old, maybe the stone wasn't out at the time. Also the deck doesn't have that much draw, compared to other seeker decks focused on both (1 extra each turn + Search for the Truth); Scavenging and Backpack don't count as drawing. I mean the stones have nice symbols to commit but i don't think the XP is worth it.
