This is the deck discussed on episode 86 of the podcast Drawn to the Flame, in which @unitled and I talk about how to approach a problem like building a Carolyn Fern deck solo. Here's the link to that episode: https://drawntotheflamepodcast.blogspot.com/2018/10/episode-86-thinking-about-carolyn-fern.html

I won't go into detail here about what's said there, but do listen to the episode and of course feel free to share your thoughts. It started with thoughts about building Finn Edwards decks and an article we shared on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/posts/small-thoughts-21792436 That's probably a good starting point, too.

In short: what does a solo Carolyn Fern deck look like? It's worth taking into account that she's not had a 'full' release yet, and the deluxe in which she'll arrive may have more cards that support her deck-style. We wound up exploring leaning on for most things, apart from clues, where her decent intellect was judged to be enough. But for more discussion, give that episode a listen! Thanks for reading!

I believe Physical Training (2) is an excellent upgrade for her (after BMOc), followed by Well Prepared. Her seeker card access can ensure she gets her combos to the table quickly.

@TheBlackHorrorI replied on facebook, but here too: yes, it really is. I ended up trying out Physical Training & Well Prepared and they worked very nicely indeed. A lot of pressure on assets for her, I feel.

@elosfthank you!

@zozo @TheBlackHorror Having just played with the very same combo out of Zoey it pretty much feels like Physical Training and Well Prepared are essential now for investigators who can get the most out of both stats. I was running Labyrinths with double Well Prepared and could hardly fail a test.

Great episode, adding this deck to the "TO DO" list!

Is Blood Eclipse the goal here? It's one of my favourite new cards and I really want to include it in a deck. After scraping through the first two Forgotten Age scenarios I've added it in and am interested to see how it goes!

@celephaishs I mean, it's not a specific goal - we don't in fact mention it in the episode mentioned above(!) - BUT it is a cool, potentially decent Carolyn card. Alas, she has only 6 health, but she does have access to a lot of healing, and something like First Aid could top her up for her crazy blood eclipse moments.

Yeah, maybe not a goal but definitely a cool include. I like the theme of her picking it up after getting harassed by monsters for a couple of scenarios. I'll definitely experiment with it and see if having a Second Wind in hand is enough to cover the health loss.

Anyways, I really love the deck - I feel like Carolyn is going to be better in a multiplayer game, but this has been working well for me in solo so far!

After playing through The Forgotten Age with this deck a bit, I've ended up with something that looks like this: arkhamdb.com

It's definitely been a fun one to play, so thanks for the inspiration!
