look how they massacred my boy....From one of the most interesting investigators in the entire game with his hunch deck, they made him the most generic investigator ever. Not very innovative for a 10 year old game if you ask me

I think it is fine: Joe is meant to be the Roland/Daisy of the new core set, so he is intetionally design to be really simple to pick up. I do agree this version of him is super boring compared to his chapter 1 version, but he does the job to tutorial new players into the game. — HeroesOfTomorrow · 97
I do feel that the current team might be too risk adverse in their designs. — FlamingoFeathers · 1
You do understand that the new core is meant as a reboot, right? It's not supposed to be innovative or flashy. It's supposed to give players a streamlined, understandable experience when first getting into this product. Not everything is about your personal biases. — SpiritReacher · 7
The new core set is not meant to experiment with crazy design, it is meant to provide NEW players with a solid base to build on. I think the notion that Joe is bad is more about mismatched expectations than anything else. Objectively, he is still a puzzle to solve - being able to go a fight + investigate route, while trying very, very hard to survive with 2s in defensive stats. I don't need another deck of cards to turn this into an interesting case of min-maxing. — MarTom · 2
So your problem is just they gave this new character the name of an old one? If they had called him Jeremiah Vintequiah, would you have written a comment on the actual card? — Moebius · 2

Is this a joke? Nerfing good ol hardboiled Joe down to the ground with similar Milan Christopher's effect but a card draw instead?

Loren ipsum del toro yada yada in order to make this review 200 words long because I am speechless that Fantasy Flight Game not only massacred Joe, but they cut off his manhood and made wimp out of the corpse

Have you actually tried him? Plus one card per turn for doing what you want to do in-class is amazing. And his old signature, the pistols, didn't scale at all. By scenario 4, they couldn't easily take down the monsters and were super expensive. — MrGoldbee · 1569
Not to forget, that they block both of his hands for most other weapons. — Tharzax · 2
"Nerfing" is definitely the wrong wording. They made him powerful in a boring way, that understandably might disappoint seasoned players. — Susumu · 389

hi, just finish the 4th ah. i find out this is the strongest character i had played, maybe he is the strongest character in ah. so i just want to comment about this op character's infinity combo.

1st find away to power up your book status, use Feed the mind lv 3 + delay the inevitable to all the horrors , draw all the cards in your deck and grave.

2nd use knowledge is power to fast active your spell or book cards abilities in hand or field.

3rd use draw effect cards to draw cards from your empty deck to take back knowledge is power. than you will get an infinity fast play.

you can combo with forbidden tome, infinity move and take 1 clue without action point. combo with the necronomicon, infinity pick any opened location clue or damage engaged enemy. or other spell or book's card .

i already use this deck and end the 4th episode. only problem is about the teammates feeling.

Very few of there are the actual rulebook terms, so...maybe? — MrGoldbee · 1569
Also Sound Like you aim to keep most of your cards on your hand to cycle faster trough your deck. So you need the usual tech like the dream enhancing serum and some horror heal — Tharzax · 2
