A bit of Quick Thinking can let you Act Desperately to play the gun, use the ammo, then throw it at a monster.

Once you've gotten rid of your gun, Scrounge for it or Push it to the limit.

A Resourceful Longshot can keep the fire rate lethal.

Upgrade path prioritized getting Lupara firsts (obviously), then take Bewitching to keep a Sleight of Hand and Scout Ahead on standby. Dirty Deeds can replace Friend's in Low Places to grab and drop the gun in an emergency while the upgraded Cigarette Case can help dig more consistently. If there's enough left over XP, get an Ace in the Hole to replace a Honed Instincts or Relic Hunter and the Clock. Absolute bottom priority is getting Force of Habit for Honed Instinct to thin the deck should you cycle it. For maximum synergy with Sleight of Hand, upgrade Friend's in Low Places with Prompt to keep the gun in your hand.
