Sefina Rousseau: The Patron of the Apocalypse
[Support / Resource Generation / Flex] — Guide for 3-4 Investigators
H.P. Lovecraft taught us that the artists of Arkham are inherently doomed to madness: Pickman painted ghouls, poets heard the call of Cthulhu in their dreams... and then, we have Sefina Rousseau. Sefina stared right into the abyssal void of the cosmos and thought, "This needs a touch of crimson and a venture capital fund."
This deck is specifically tailored for 3 to 4-player games, where hyper-specialized roles (the pure Clue-ver and the pure Fighter) desperately need a buffer. Sefina isn't your primary damage dealer or your main clue-getter; she is the financial and mystical glue keeping the group from suffering a collective mental trauma.
The Structure: High Society Allies & Jewels
To survive cosmic horror, Sefina surrounds herself with the finer things in life. No crude tools or hardware store gear here:
- 2x St. Hubert's Key (Accessory): Forget about your sanity for a moment. This pendant grants a vital +1 Willpower and +1 Intellect. It is the perfect tool to ensure Sefina doesn't blink when a Minion of the Primeval Ones tries to sing her a lullaby of madness.
- 2x Dario El-Amin (Ally): Who needs the blessing of Nodens when you have Dario? As long as you keep your coffers full (an easy task with this deck), Dario gives you +1 Intellect, +1 Agility, and extra resources. He is the gentleman holding your fur coat while you elegantly dodge stray tentacles.
- 1x Fox Mask (Other): An artistic yet functional accessory. Ideal for those high-stakes turns where you need an extra burst of agility to slip away from something with far too many eyes.
Money Laundering & Funding the Resistance
In a 4-player group, the team's economy can quickly spiral into chaos. This is where Sefina shines as the official treasurer of the campaign:
- 2x Bank Job: The crown jewel of your support package. You aren't robbing a bank just for yourself—you are sharing the spoils with your fellow investigators at your location! It is the mystical equivalent of saying, "Don't worry, darlings, the next round of heavy ammunition and dynamite is on me."
- 2x Faustian Bargain: Tossing two curse tokens into the bag in exchange for 6 resources is absolute daylight robbery. What is a minor debt to a transdimensional entity compared to funding your entire board state on turn 1?
- 2x 21 or Nothing: Because art and gambling go hand in hand. Sefina does not fear betting against the chaos bag if the prize keeps her gallery funded.
The Art of Cosmic Warfare (and Clue-Gathering)
When the Guardian runs out of bullets and the Seeker gets cornered by a horde of Deep Ones, Sefina pulls out her palette:
- 3x The Painted World: The exact card that allows Sefina to break the rules of the game. Duplicating Read the Signs, Spectral Razor, or "You handle this!" on demand is the closest thing to having a "cheat button" blessed by Yog-Sothoth himself.
- 2x Spectral Razor & 2x Shrivelling: Your self-defense package. Sefina attacks using her Willpower (which is monstrously high thanks to St. Hubert's Key). You don't strike with brute physical force; you erase the monstrosity directly from the canvas of reality.
- 2x Sixth Sense & 2x Read the Signs: When the group hits a wall trying to find clues, Sefina investigates through the ether. Read the Signs is particularly brutal on massive 4-player maps.
- 2x Drawn to the Flame: Zero tests, two automatic clues. Lovecraft wrote about moths drawn to fatal fires; Sefina introduces those moths to the concept of fine art to light the way forward.
Damage Control & Benevolent Egoism
Sefina's brand of support is all about altering the destiny of others for the greater good:
- 2x "You handle this!": Easily the most entertaining card in the deck. Did the Seeker just draw a horrific Willpower test? "Don't stress, darling, hand that cosmic abomination over to me. I know exactly how to network with the void."
- 2x Ward of Protection & 2x Deny Existence: Your ultimate insurance policy. When the encounter deck tries to inflict 3 direct horror or massive damage, Sefina simply decides that she doesn't care for that particular timeline and paints over it.
Sefina Rousseau plays like the true landlord of Arkham. This is an incredibly fun deck for 3 to 4-player tables where you can enjoy the sheer satisfaction of showering your teammates with resources, vaporizing monsters with spectral magic, and paying off their Arkham Asylum medical bills.
Ultimately, if the encounter deck insists that the end of the world is an incomprehensible masterpiece of cosmic dread, Sefina Rousseau is here to prove that Azathoth has dreadful taste in art, Cthulhu completely lacks color coordination, and luckily for your teammates, a cosmic bankruptcy can always be settled with a heavy checkbook.
Get your brushes ready, because the Apocalypse could use a fresh coat of paint!
