Investigator Specific Tips
Amanda is your 1920's equivalent of a Youtube DIYer, and she's damn good at it! Her card access is extremely relevant to her ability; so it's useful to know that the "practiced" skills she uses (generally) either provide lots of icons in a single stat or enhance the effects of a successful skill test. This means that Amanda is typically at her best when she can double (triple?) down on the same test multiple times: either ensuring more consistency for difficult tests or massive rewards on easy ones. This doubling down naturally lends itself to a Seeker specialty: investigating. More surprising then, is that it's actually quite effective for fighting too. Couple this with a healthy swath of skills containing wild icons, and Amanda can become very proficient in most situations, provided she has the right card under her.
Get caught without the right cards? You could be in some serious trouble. Low base stats means a few bad encounter card draws can easily spiral out of control for Amanda, especially when her ability offers limited benefit for treacheries that resolve when drawn. Your best defense is keeping a hand full of cards with lots of tools to continually draw more. Thankfully this is an easy problem for Seekers to solve!
Some archetypes that work well for this template:
-
The Student - Amanda loves skills that can be used multiple times in a turn - so books, fists and wild icons take priority here. That said, there's a high probability you'll be commiting skills from your hand (like a peasant) as well, so don't be afraid to include some utility skills that don't necessitate use with Amanda's ability. Since her potency comes from how many skill tests she performs in a turn, it's worth looking for cards that give this student additional means to take more tests in a given turn, whether through extra actions or otherwise.
-
Cluever - Finding clues with Amanda revolves around investigation turns and setup turns. Ideally if you drop a #eureka or #deduction under Amanda you want to spend all your actions on investigating (and succeeding!). This demands 2 things: passive boosts to her intellect stat, and cards that let her traverse locations without spending precious actions on movement. Don't neglect your setup turns either! You'll want some tools to avoid getting bogged down by various encounter cards, and to give you a boost when you're ready to get back to work.
-
Flex - Punching cultists has never been more profitable for seekers, and Amanda can even help teammates take down ancient tentacled things when enough fighty cards have inevitably trickled into her hand. Put a card with multiple wild icons under Amanda and you can easily fight, evade, and investigate all in the same turn. Assets that let you pay for stat boosts are more feasible here as well, provided you have the resources.
-
Big Draw - Your ability gives you tremendous draw potential with many skills that offer card draw as a reward. On it's own this creates wonderful consistency, and enables a steady flow of skill cards and fodder for "on discard" perks. Taken a step further, you can easily get into some big hand shenanigans that increase your hand size and reward you just for having all those lovely cards in your greedy mitt.
