My initial build I used for Rita Young in my run with her in The Forgotten Age.

The initial build isn't meant to be particularly strong but more functional than anything.

My upgrade paths were...

  • Peter Sylvestre -> Peter Sylvestre (2)
  • Lucky! -> Lucky! (2)
  • Baseball Bat -> Ornate Bow
  • Cheap Shot -> Old Hunting Rifle
  • Cherised Keepsake -> Key of Ys
  • Lantern -> Rise to the Occasion (3)
  • Scrapper
  • 1x Live and Learn -> Alter Fate
  • Act of Desperation -> Will to Survive
  • 1x Sleight of Hand -> Ace in the Hole

This is more or less the order I went when it came to upgrading stuff. Outside of that most of the upgrades are superfluous and unnecessary.

Thoughts on Rita herself: Initially I wasn't really too hyped about trying her out, however I knew her 5 would allow her to breeze through The Forgotten Age. As I expected she did extremely well, however she struggled to get clues. Thankfully I was paired with a fairly strong clue-getter and we got through it. I'm unsure how well Rita would do solo however.

She is a surprisingly competent fighter with both the Old Hunting Rifle and the Ornate Bow. On top of that she has an inherit ability to deal damage as well similar to Agnes Baker, so doing all sorts of tricks and turns is really smooth with Rita.

She feels like a version of Mark Harrigan. Really solid stats, however he deckbuilding is limited. Even with the available options you really don't want to run the Trick cards we have outside of a few options. I used the Sleight of Hand combo with Ornate Bow, however it became less useful as the campaign went on and I replaced it with Ace in the Hole instead while still leaving one copy in case it comes up. Cheap Shot is only ok, nothing special and is easily replaceable.

She really needs more Trick options before she can truly shine, however she performed very well in the Forgotten Age and me and my partner completed it without dying (yipee!).
