This card seems a bit too strong with The Necronomicon and Scroll of Secrets. Since you can easily search both tomes with Research Librarian, the combo seems too easy to get going for how strong it is.

If you throw in some secret recovery like Truth from Fiction or Eldritch Sophist you can easily recharge Scroll of Secrets.

You could also add Knowledge is Power and Library Docent if you want even more necronomicon action. Library Docent also works as a nice way to recharge Scroll of Secrets.

Ariadne's Twine + Dr Milan Christopher make this combo infinite assuming you use at least one action to investigate every turn. Essentially turning your additional resource from Christopher into a secret for Scroll of Secrets. — Sengy · 2
10 xp should be strong thats the same as upgraded red clock. Now library pass plus Abigail could be a Very broken combo but at 9xp and having to find her? sure — BakaWisdom · 5

I don't know if it is as intended but as per current wording of "Forced", if you don't have any asset attached to Library Pass, you must pay a resource (as per "must" rule). So maybe this card is not that strong because it's basically eats your resources from 1st turn straight no matter if you use it. It still does look like a mistake in wording, is there any errata for this?

If that's the case this really isn't worth 5xp. I agree with your interpretation of what is printed on the card but I doubt that is the intent. — Lahsbee · 19
"Getting pretty tired of covering your library fines, man." -Dr. Christopher — LegallyNickFury · 271

I think even with the interpretation that the library eats your resources if you don't return a book (which I agree with), this card seems extremely powerful. As soon as you add the Necronomicon, you can sort of break a deck with no combo necessary.

  1. Play the Necronomicon, use all of its secrets, then put it in the bottom of your deck.
  2. Draw through your deck as quickly as possible.
  3. With your deck empty, play the Necronomicon to your Library again. Use the secrets. Put it on the bottom of your deck, where it will be the only card.
  4. Draw the Necronomicon on your next draw phase.
  5. Repeat.

You never need to recycle your deck, just keep getting a free Necronomicon every turn. No more weaknesses. Klaatu berata nehcoughcoughcough

Have I missed this something?

Pretty sure much like you cant shuffle a card into an empty deck you probably cant put a card on the "bottom" of an empty deck — Spamamdorf · 5
