Note, to convert this to a solo deck, switch the Magnifying Glass for a second Machete.

This deck is based around the idea that Jim can survive on lower skill checks than others because the Skulls are all essentially 0. That means on Hard he can get by at +1 and +2 when other investigators normally need to be at least +2 and more normally +3 just to avoid catastrophe when a skull is drawn.

That means that Rabbit's Foot is, by far, the most useful card for Jim, since he is going to be failing his skill tests a bit more often than others. This deck lets Jim rifle through his cards with lots of Cantrips, Rabbit Foot, and Arcane Initiate.

It also makes sense to use Scavenging with Jim, because he will be succeeding by +2 more frequently than others (owing to him having essentially 6 0s in the chaos bag), but there really isn't much for him to scavenge at 0xp. At higher xp you can consider slipping in a scavenging.

NOTE: The Rite of Seeking cards are there mostly to be drawn out with Initiate. They are essentially a free book icon.

The basic plan is to use normal investigation for clues, and have both the Machete and Shrivelling out for combat. Use Machete for weaker/average creatures and use Shrivelling when you have to take out bigger game, as you can pump it up with Arcane Studies. This lets you extend the ammo of Shrivelling significantly.

Mulligan hard for Machete, Rabbit's Foot, and Arcane Initiate.

The Ward of Protection or mostly there to prevent agility checks that do damage, but you would also use them to stop Obscuring Fog.

In pair play, prefer Jim's Trumpet over Magnifying Glass when figuring out how to use your hand slots.

Upgrade priorities:

Once you get some premium items in your deck, you can switch in scavenging, exchanging it either for Magnifying Glass or one copy of Rabbit's Foot, depending on whether you want to use the Trumpet for its icons, in which case consider using Rite of Seeking as a spell.
