An all-rounder build, capable of both dealing with monsters and gathering clues.
Dr. William T. Maleson is there to dodge particularly nasty willpower events - spending an action to pick up a clue with your high is a reasonable tradeoff there. and if you luck into drawing none, he doubles as an excellently cost-effective meatshield. You handle this one! is a backup option - for solo play I'd probably just switch it to Quick Thinking and call it a day.
The weapons are a bit of a level zero placeholder, with the endgoal being Sleight of Handed Luparas and Chicago Typewriters. The Flashlights are obviously there to be replaced with the ridiculous 8-point Lockpicks.
Lucky! is just goodstuff - we don't really go for the win by +2 mechanic (sans the temporary .41 Derringers - but even then, if we choose to upgrade them we can turn a failure by one into a 2-damage attack) and it'll help prevent our awesome events whiffing.
The Shortcut is just miscellaneous fifth splash slot utility - feel free to switch it to something else if you prefer.
