George Barnaby has found himself far from the safety of a court room and longing for his retirement, but with his wife gone it wouldn't right to be enjoying things. George is going to muster all his cunning, remain Resourceful, and steel himself with Grim Resolve, possibly open up his coffers for his teammates with some of his Embezzled Treasure. Admittedly there are better variants of this deck, but I was looking to stay away from the ever reliable short supply or the incredibly powerful survivor allies

Core Theme: This deck, like most survivors, is centered around the ability printed on George. Getting to hang on to cards beneath himself, safe from pesky treacheries, makes the idea place to hold onto the powerful suit of survivor skills.

Pros: Draw power. Every errant card discarded for hand size, or lost to the encounter deck can become a new one. I was able to consistently go through my entire deck even with only level 0 cards. When you add a couple extra ways to get cards like Thorough Inquiry or Take Heart it becomes even easier to find missing pieces.

Flexibility. Being able to run a more support based role gives an enormous boost to you allies. The stat line might not be anything special like Mark Harrigan or Harvey Walters it's good enough that you can scrape by doing most tests and with his ability there will always be cards available to commit.

Low to the ground. Being focused on skills and low cost events, makes it so that you're ready to start pushing the game forward from turn 1 even without assets. With just a little XP you can have Sharp Vision and Brute Force taking the place of more typical assets without need the resources or actions to get them out. With way to recover cards like A Glimmer of Hope or Resourceful you'll usually have fuel for any powerful discard abilities and don't have to stress too much about loosing things.

Cons: Complexity. While nothing the deck does is particularly difficult to manage there can be a lot of things you need to keep in mind, especially once Gift of Nodens is in the mix. You have the cards under you to commit, the cards in your hand, cards you can play from the discard pile like Winging It, and what you want to add back with resourceful and more importantly when. Once you add gift of nodens you need to pay attention to what skills you have available and what card is on the bottom of your deck. There's many decision points moment to moment in order to get the most value out of your cards.

The increased deck size. While you are able to cycle through your deck pretty effectively having 40 cards to start is a big drawback when it comes to your opening hand. Resourceful, Sharp Vision, and critically Gift of Nodens are the best cards in the deck but half the time you just won't see them in the opener. Without them, it'll feel pretty bad but you can still get things done till they show up. If you fail, Take Heart and the solution may be found

Potential Upgrades: Priorities:

  • Sharp Vision
  • Brute Force
  • Gift of Nodens Never Bad to have:
  • Ice Pick
  • A Glimmer of Hope
  • At a Crossroads
  • Nothing Left to Lose This one was much better than I thought it ever would be. Usually you won't get many resources if any but you can easily be drawing 5 cards and holding on to it can do a lot to counteract your weakness which typically leaves you short on cards
  • Unrelenting
  • Lucky! Here me out:
  • Providential This card is actually really underrated. Relevant icons and adding bless is huge, especially since you can easily play it 3-4 times. Once you've taken 2 points of damage and horror it is trivia to fill up the bag. As a bonus the wild icon makes it something you can tack on to an ally's big move
