Be trepid: play those events!

This enemy-management deck is built around cards that double up stats for tests. The perfect round is:

  1. Pass a willpower test in the Mythos Phase and commit Intrepid, along with Guts to help pass the test.
  2. Then play Ace in the Hole for 3 more Intrepid-boosted actions. Quick Thinking and Leo De Luca gain you more.
  3. Play the events for the super stat boosts.

A six-to-eight eight action round at with Jenny sat at 4-4-4-4 stat profile? Yes please. Throw in Pay Day at the end of the round, and you're flush with cash.

Didn't get a Willpower test in the Mythos Phase? Drawn to the Flame gives you another crack at a Willpower test.

Want Intrepid back for another round? Scrounge for Supplies to get it back (one red doesn't overpower, right?).

Fight/Evade

Other than that, this deck is going to do a lot of evading, so your damage is coming from Hatchet Man, Sneak Attack, and Cheap Shot. Garrote Wire will finish things off.

Pickpocketing and Lucky Cigarette Case help with card draw and resources.

Other thoughts

The full combo with Ace in the Hole and all other working parts is not too likely to come together. Another approach might be Chuck Fergus (he's in the side deck): cheap access to the events is fun, and more modern than Leo De Luca. In which case, you 'd probably ditch Ace in the Hole and Pay Day).

Breaking and Entering isn't stricly "enemy management", but you're cluever isn't likely to complain with 2 fewer clues and an evaded enemy on the board!

Side deck also contains Streetwise, depending on if you like a pay-to-pass style of play.

For some reason, I am delighted by the idea of Jenny with a garrote. "Finishing school" is not usually short for "finishing them off" school.
