Zoey Finds a Treassure of Relics

Introduction

Have you ever been frustrated by the fact that Daniela Reyes can't play Guard Dog? By the fact that her ability isn't triggered by attacks of opportunity? Or by the fact that horror attacks don’t trigger Aquinnah's reflect damage?

My thorough investigations have found that Zoey Samaras has in fact a blood link with Daniela Reyes. Thanks to her sacred Cross, Zoey has been able to grab some powerful relics to fight in a Daniela-Style against anything foolish enough to get in her way.

Main Strategy:

Deck Explanation:
  • All your relics (Runic Axe, Hallowed Mirror, Hunter's Armor and Enchanted Blade) are also items. Spend your first turns easily finding them with Dr. Elli Horowitz and Backpack.

  • Generate the necessary resources with Motivational Speech, Stand Together and Take Heart.

  • Your ideal set up is to have in play a Runic Axe plus the two Hunter's Armor (they take an arcane slot or no slot at all if you play them via Dr. Elli Horowitz), a Guard Dog and your signature Zoey's Cross (item). Getting at least two of these pieces plus a weapon is really easy with all your searching engines.

  • Now you can kill without worrying about the chaos bag or spending fight . Just engage enemies and kill them by generating attacks of opportunity or waiting for their attacks in the enemy phase. This enables you to dedicate your turns to move, draw or support your teammates without leaving aside your fighter's rol.

  • Example: Say you are engaged with a 3 health enemy that deals 1 damage per attack and that you have a Hunter's Armor and a Guard Dog. Just play your turn normally: play Stand Together to help your teammates, make a basic investigation committing Take Heart and perform a single attack with Runic Axe spending one charge (Accuracy). For a 4 health enemy, do the same plus spending an additional charge on Power and a third one in Hunt if you need to move to engage the enemy. If you also have in play a second Hunter's Armor or Zoey's Cross, no fight is needed.

  • Late game, when your Hunter's Armors are full of damage, play Lonnie Ritter to heal them.

For a campaign, it's a great idea (suggested by danisnotonfire in the comments) to include Down the Rabbit Hole. The original idea, to my knowledge, was given here https://arkhamdb.com/decklist/view/43454/zoey-does-not-worry-about-upgrades-and-xp-1.0

Great deck, thanks! I love the original use of Zoey's deck building. Also, I love it when folks post their decks with random art mash-ups. ^^ Anyway, I'll definitely try out this deck in the near future.

This is a really nice deck! I'd thought about the combo of Elli Horowitz and Cyclopean Hammer myself in the past as part of a wider combo, but my worry was as soon as she dies bye bye goes the hammer. Combining Elli with Hunter's Armor to get absurd soak that lets you do damage is a fantastic idea - kudos!

Also lol at "Credit: Microsoft Paint"!

Greeeat combo, looks real fun! IMO Heroic Rescue should be an upgrade priority, fits temathically while providing an additional testless damage. Would definitely give it a try.

@SilverTwilightLodgeJanitor Hey thanks! This was the first deck I published and yours were the first comment I received :D. Hope you enjoy it!

@HungryColquhoun Thank you! I also thought about Cyclopean Hammer first. I discarded it because of the XP cost, but the possibility of losing it by losing Dr. Elli Horowitz is a fair worry too. Then I saw that Runic Axe and Hunter's Armor could get the relic trait, and I began to jump in joy.

I had the idea but Mr. Paint did all the work.

@Alrya I haven't tried it myself, but it looks really strong! It's a pity that it doesn't work on Elite, but summing its damage to your Armors, Cross and Dogs can still kill big non-Elite dudes without spending an action and without taking a test. Nice idea to test, thanks for the comment!

Great idea! I love Daniela's ability and having Zoey capture the essence gives her a huge boost. Also, awesome write-up! I'm happy Valentin1331 was able to provide this template lol.

Amazing deck and write up! I was unable to make a deck this week but I’m thrilled to see that someone took over! I didn’t have anything for Zoey so I’m glad you posted this fantastic guide for the community!

Great deck idea, Daniela is jealous! Perhaps for a campaign worth considering Down the Rabbit Hole and swapping some skills to combine power with Blood&gore's deck? arkhamdb.com

That deck is so cool! I am playing right now a campaign with Daniela and I feel the pain of not having acces to the upgraded dogs... anyway, keep up the great job, looking forward to your next deck!

@JesterJayJoker Thank you! I've played Daniela in the past, and the feeling is certainly similar. The template is just fantastic, I really encourage its use.

@Valentin1331 Hey, thanks for the comment! Let me take the opportunity to thank you again for sharing the great template guide and for all the decks you post, they have inspired me so much. I'm a relatively new player to Arkham lcg (1.5 years aprox), but used to play Magic a lot and I've always loved deckbuilding. To my taste, deckbuilding is muuuch more funny here in Arkham than in Magic.

@danisnotonfire Down the Rabbit Hole is a great idea! Most upgrades come from cards we already have. I will definitely add it to the explanation, thank you!

@Alruta Not being able to play Guard Dog in Daniela has frustrated me a lot in the past. They're just the perfect card for her. You could try to paint them in red, maybe your group won't realize... Thanks for the comment!

I take one year off from the game and they come out with all of this cool stuff. Great deck. I need to get caught up.

How can you have in 0xp deck level 2 dogs and level 2 backpacks?

Jan 05, 2024 Fitzz · 1326

@Zelten The "0XP Version:" section is supposed to represent the changes from the actual deck to the starting version. So you replace level 2 dogs and backpacks with their level 0 versions.

Cool deck! I will probably try something similar :)

Just one question about using Down the Rabbit Hole: can you still use In the Thick of It to include Charisma before starting scenario 1? or not because Charisma would cost 4 xp?

Feb 07, 2024 Ramun · 277

Ignore my previous comment, I'm pretty sure it is allowed. For some reason, my mind interpreted it as purchasing a new card just because Charisma is permanent and does not count in deck size..
