What follows is a deck for Marie Lambeau to be used in the Curse of the Rougarou.
Biographie
Grand-Mère may have moved to Massachusetts, but the Lambeau family still calls Louisiana home. Living in the Faubourg Tremé, generations of Lambeau musicians had made their way to the cafés, social clubs and, most recently, the speakeasies of the le Vieux carré - the "French Quarter" as the new generation says - to perform for the assembled crowds.
On Sunday, however, music was set aside for night-time service at l'Église Saint-Augustin and a tour of the Lambeau vaults in le Cimetière Saint-Louis. The folk of Arkham were always suspicious of Grand-Mère's habits, but what they never understood was that midnight mass was a Lambeau tradition passed on from mother to daughter; Marie was not raised in witchcraft but rather in the presence of great power derived from equally great devotion.
One day, after Grand-Mère had passed on, they sent Marie a telegraph about a roux-ga-roux back in New Orleans, so she collected her belongings and boarded the Essex County Express, transferring to Boston, from where a steamer dropped her at Fauborg Marigny, a short walk to Tremé.
Preparations
From her family, she collected some of Grand-Mère's posh gowns and a leather coat to wear, as well as a lantern used to light the way home after a late performance. The Lambeau benefactress, Madame Labranche, paid a visit to lend her support - moral or material - as Baron Samedi's protection racket was alive and well in the French Quarter.
Marie's true guiding lights were no lanterns, however, but rather her music and the church, and it was these that would give her a moment of respite whenever doom approached.
The darkness could be held at bay a little with an invigorating song, lending courage in troubled times.
But on particularly terrible nights, Marie would light one of her blessed candles to ward off evil. She honoured the Lambeau patron, Saint Hubert, with both prayer and a small icon in the shape of a key. Marie's rosary was never far from her hand. Through her own devotion and these holy objects, Marie could focus her mind, enraptured in the holy trinity.
She was ready to seek out this creature of the bayou.

Aug 17, 2018Awesome writeup indeed! I think there is a mistake in the deck : ins’t it relic hunter instead of charisma (would be much more useful). Instead of Madame Labranche (though it’s flavorful), David Renfield and a couple of initiate would quite do the job to use her ability and provide cards and resources. Also it would spare two spots for the outclass cards. Also more fighting spells could do the trick. Since you have to add another basic weakness with 16 xp, you could add a shrivelling xp3. |
