Usage

This deck has been used several times in multiplayer to introduce the game to some players. He's fairly straightforward to play (play an ally, look for spells, and use them), with 2 one-off cards (Astral Travel & Storm of Spirits) to have some fun, and lots of protection (2x Ward of Protection & 2x Deny Existence) to mitigate the encounter deck if needed (and because it's not easy for beginners to evaluate if the card is a real danger or not).

It's oriented more in the enemy management side than investigation, but still can help a ton (from simply using Flashlight to recurring Rite of Seeking thanks to Spirit-Speaker or using Drawn to the Flame to finish a high shroud location).

Card choices

Mists of R'lyeh is the replaceable piece :

  • for Fine Clothes if you want to parlay a lot (in "The Path to Carcosa);
  • for Trench Coat to be able to better escape in "The Forgotten Age";
  • for Sixth Sense if you want to be investigate more;
  • … or anything you want to test.

The knife could be Enchanted Blade, but the cost of the deck would be higher, and it will be replaced by Spirit Athame soon enough anyway, so it's just for the first scenario of the campaign.

Fearless could (should) be Guts, but it allows teaching to beginners that skills could have effects too.

Enjoy!
