Wendy is capable of performing mind-boggling combos with her amulet, but she also can be quite a straightforward investigator, who mostly evades (and sometime kills) enemies and gets clues. This is a down-to-earth flex deck for solo or multiplayer.
Get clues with Lockpicks, Breaking and Entering, "Look what I found!", Winging It and Fox Mask.
Kill enemies that you need to kill with British Bull Dog, Backstab and Long Shot. Otherwise evade them.
The draw/card tutoring comes from Friends in Low Places (Search for Items), At a Crossroads and Manual Dexterity. You need to increase the consistency of the deck with upgrades.
Resources are generated by Lone Wolf and Faustian Bargain. If you don't like curses, you can swap Faustian Bargain for Take Heart or Bank Job.
The upgrade path and game plan are pretty straightforward for this deck. That makes it beginner-friendly in my mind. When a campaign gives you way more XP than you can spend, just get some permanents. Possible upgrade path:
Core upgrades:
2x British Bull Dog -> 2x British Bull Dog
2x Peter Sylvestre -> 2x Peter Sylvestre
2x Friends in Low Places -> 1x Black Market and 1x Nothing Left to Lose
2x Breaking and Entering -> 2x Breaking and Entering
Nice-to-have upgrades:
1x Fine Clothes -> 1x Hunting Jacket (just change clothes :))
2x Manual Dexterity -> 2x Manual Dexterity
1x "Look what I found!" -> 1x "Look what I found!"
Don't stress too much about getting Wendy's Amulet into play. If you get a chance to use it effectively, do it. Otherwise it acts like Unexpected Courage.
May the Elder Sign bless you.

As for this deck I ran it through half of Path to Carcosa true solo and had enough firepower to kill the enemies that I needed to kill. British Bull Dog is very good for Wendy, especially British Bull Dog, which lets you handle aloof enemies effectively. With British Bull Dog and Long Shot you kill 3HP enemies and 4HP enemies with Backstab and Long Shot. When I go true solo, I ask myself, if an enemy really needs to be killed, e. g. if that is a non-hunter who sits in a location that I investigated or a location I'm not interested in, I just evade it and move on. Depending on a scenario you need enemy management cards sooner or later. Then adjust your mulligan strategy accordingly. |
How is at managing enemies in solo?
I’m running a similar deck for true solo and almost every scenario has too many enemies for her to handle. I’ve had mixed success with Waylay, now trying out Sleight of Hand and Small Favor in my current version.
