"Well-educated, experienced, armed with his tools of the trade and one of the best researchers around, you would think Rex's life would be all smooth sailing. Sadly, the guy has horrendous bad luck, to the point where he's sure he's cursed. He was visiting Arkham and doing some smaller pieces when the activities of the Lodge grabbed his attention. Now, having met some of the locals who are trying to figure out what's happening, Rex is bringing his superior research abilities to help crack the case"

Role: Rapid Clue Gatherer and Explorer

Clue Gathering:

Rex's signature ability should be utilised as much as possible, so I've included quite a few intellect builders in attempt to up the tempo as much as possible: Dr. Milan Christopher, Hawk-Eye Folding Camera (when at 2 evidence), Magnifying Glass, The Black Book

Higher Education is the central card to this deck build and provided you can keep your hand size high, it'll provide boosts for getting those more difficult clues on the higher shroud locations

Deduction is great in Rex, getting 3 clues from one successful investigation is awesome and just speeds along our progress

Explorer:

As a reporter, Rex not only wants to gather as much information as possible, but he also wants to get to as many locations to get different insights. I've upgraded into these because again, they are great for tempo:

Shortcut is a free play to get a free move and this upgraded version gives the team a free action to move if we are on the chosen space (choose wisely)

Pathfinder is one of top card upgrades for Seekers and given that Rex will generally be avoiding enemies (and perhaps evading them), if this is down, it's a free move every turn you aren't with an enemy, which is glorious.

Resource Generation:

Given the inclusion of Higher Education as the main upgrade card in here, it's essential that Rex can use this as much as possible, so there needs to be a decent amount of resource generation in the deck. After you get some of the main assets down, most of your resources will be going towards Higher Education and your events (all of which are 2 cost or less). The key cards are Dr. Milan Christopher, Burglary and Crack the Case (although you might want to try and be near Nicky or myself when using this as neither of us are running many resources).

You also have the campaign card The Black Book and given your high sanity, if you are desperate it might be worth using to reduce card costs.

Card Draw:

An essential part of most Seekers' game is card draw and it's particularly vital in this deck build. You're aiming to have 5+ cards in your hand at all times so you can fire Higher Education as and when you need it.

Search for the Truth is a great one to use after he's done a bit of extensive investigation. With Rex, it's very easy to gain at least 3/4 cards from this if timed nicely. Preposterous Sketches is a good one to use as a first action, 3 cards from one is great, but in case you draw Chronophobia, it gives you a chance to get rid of it. Eureka! is pretty handy to give you a choice from the top three cards of your deck and can be committed to three kinds of test.

Other Cards:

Decoy - I've added this in Rex to provide some auto evade in case he gets stuck with a monster and for some reason no one else is around him. Provided his intellect is boosted by other things, Mind over Matter should also help if he needs to evade.

Good Opening Hand Cards:

Look for and mulligan into these if possible:

Hawk-Eye Folding Camera, Magnifying Glass, Dr. Milan Christopher, Pathfinder
