Hi everyone!
Before I start introducing you to the deck, I have to explain some things. First of all - this is my first published deck, so some misunderstandings are possible. Second of all - I haven't tested it in the game itself (yet).
So - let's start with the basics.
The end-game combo for this deck is using Ancient Stone alongside Glimpse the Unthinkable for dealing massive ammount of damage (8, sometimes even 10). Laboratory Assistant is here to further increase our maximum hand size (we have to remember about the errata for that card). Occult Lexicon also works great with the Ancient Stone - Blood-Rite draws 2 cards, triggering the damage from the Ancient Stone, and then you can pay 2 resources, to deal additional 2 damage, for the total ammount of 4 damage.
Drawing so many cards will eventually lead to two things: running out of secrets on the Ancient Stone and drawing our signature weakness.
Solution for the first problem is Scavenging (if the Ancient Stone was discarded, often by playing Magnifying Glass to discard it). Also, when we identify the Ancient Stone in the first place we try to use our double Drawing Thin for increasing the difficulty of the test by 4 (+4 secrets) and using the 4 resources from them to boost our by 8 from Higher Education
For the second problem, we have Grisly Totem which we will use on our skill cards (like Inquiring Mind or Curiosity)
Upgrade Path
Before we start - I divided the upgrade path to two sections - first is transition from 0xp version to the point when you can try to identify the Ancient Stone. The second is from the point when it's identified to the end-game version.
Phase One
Without Fire Axe we become much more vulnerable, with the only thing dealing damage being Occult Lexicon. At this point though being able to identify the Stone fast becomes our priority, so we rely heavily on fellow investigators.
Phase Two
- 2x Ancient Stone --> 2x Ancient Stone 4
- 2x Drawing Thin --> 2x Glimpse the Unthinkable
- Magnifying Glass --> Magnifying Glass 1
- Mind over Matter & Dr. Milan Christopher --> 2x Eidetic Memory
- Overpower & Manual Dexterity --> 2x Cryptic Research
- Grisly Totem --> Grisly Totem 3
To sum it up, we:
- fight with Ancient Stone
- deal with threacheries with skill cards and Higher Education
- investigate with investigation-tools
- try not to get killed
I'm playing a similar deck through TCU (4 player) and i think it's pretty cool. I got 26 charges on the stone with shroud 4 + Obscuring Fog + 4 Drawing Mhin x2, + 3 stone; x2 Double or Nothing. Because of the decks drawing speed i included both damage and sanity stone instead. Our dedicated fighters can handle most situations, so i rarely really need the damage.
