Daisy Walker: Astounding Manuscripts | 5 | 3 | 1 | 1.0 |
ak45 · 450
Concept
This deck aims to be the sole clue-gatherer in 3-4 player games. The key idea is to use Pnakotic Manuscripts on Archaic Glyphs with Higher Education to scoop all clues from one location at once, repeatedly and reliably. Ideally you only need to perform as many investigate actions as there are locations with clues.
Card Choices
Combo
- Archaic Glyphs: Key to scoop all clues at once.
- Pnakotic Manuscripts: To avoid drawing Chaos token when using Archaic Glyphs. Also Daisy has an extra action to use it every turn.
- Higher Education: Only efficient way to boost sky high.
Tutors
- Old Book of Lore: To find the combo pieces. And Daisy can't leave home without her Old Book of Lore.
- Dr. Elli Horowitz: To find and play Pnakotic Manuscripts for free.
- Research Librarian: To find Old Book of Lore during setup. After you found it, you can use Librarian to find Pnakotic Manuscripts.
- Eureka!: Help to find the combo and Old Book of Lore early on.
Refills
- Truth from Fiction: Add secrets to Pnakotic Manuscripts.
- Recharge: Add charges to Archaic Glyphs.
- Enraptured: Has the flexibility to add charge/secret to either of the combo pieces.
- Premonition: Pseudo-Secret for Pnakotic Manuscripts. Also synergizes with Recharge.
Resources
- David Renfield, Emergency Cache: We need money to play our expensive combo.
- Unearth the Ancients: To play Pnakotic Manuscripts cheaply. It is ok to use 1 or 2 triggers of Higher Education to do so. If you draw it after Pnakotic Manuscripts is played, the double pips becomes 1 clue when commited to the combo.
Others
- Magnifying Glass: Intellect Boost. I am not so sure about it since it competes for the hand slot, though Daisy has Daisy's Tote Bag and Dr. Elli Horowitz may help to hold a Manuscript. You may want to replace it with something like Perception or upgrade it.
- Deduction: Too good to pass up. It is equivalent to 1.5 clues, or 3(!) clues if you upgrade it.
- Charisma: This deck has 6 allies, and you want both Dr. Elli Horowitz and David Renfield in play.
Wait, why no Dr. Milan Christopher?
Dr. Milan cost quite a lot to set up, and our combo is already expensive. Also, we are not investigating as often as a regular seeker, so Dr. Milan won't pay for himself.
Strategy
Rule of Thumb: Do not investigate regularly. You may fail. Getting 1 resource is better. 1r -> +2 from Higher Education -> 1 clue from combo. Take your time to set up.
Mulligan Priorities:
- Old Book of Lore (or Research Librarian if you don't have it): Critical to find the combo early, and find support cards later.
- Archaic Glyphs: The more important combo piece. And it is slightly more difficult to find.
- Pnakotic Manuscripts (or Research Librarian or Dr. Elli Horowitz): The other combo piece. You want the pieces early on to start combo right away.
- David Renfield, Emergency Cache, Unearth the Ancients if you have the Manuscripts: Econ options. More money to set up and fuel Higher Education.

Dec 18, 2018Thanks for your comment! Nice call on Calling in Favors (Pun intended). It seem great not only for clearing doom on David Renfield but also recycling Research Librarians and unsuccessful Dr. Elli Horowitz. Not sure about Unexpected Courage though, since I assume my teammates will help me handle the enemies. |

Dec 25, 2018Interesting deck, looks like a reworked version of the Dewey Deci spell-system! What is the reasoning behind Recharge over the Book of Shadows(1)? At a glance it just seems like a easier target as you already have tutors in place as well as cheaper in XP and cutting the Mag. glasses seems like a small issue. Not sold on Eli, seems like you really need another 1-2 relics to gain a reasonable hitrate. Agree on Calling in favors, it seems like a great fit. Also not a big fan of Premonition and would rather run something else in that slot. Not sure between Eureka or Perception. My suggestions: +1 Book of Shadows(1) |

Dr. Elli Horowitz is amazing when she hits, but she misses every now and then. Also she is pretty useless after the Pnakotic Manuscripts is found. I don't feel like adding additional Relics since it dilutes the deck. I guess I should cut 1 copy instead. Agree on cutting Magnifying Glass and Premonition. They are not very useful in practice. For replacements, I prefer going all in for the combo, and add ways to actually buff up . My proposed change will be something like this: -1 Dr. Elli Horowitz, -2 Magnifying Glass, -2 Premonition +1 Calling in Favors, +2 Perception, +1 Ward of Protection, +1 Forbidden Knowledge Forbidden Knowledge is here to provide more fuel for Higher Education. It can also kill David if too much doom accumulates. |
You need some way to remove Doom from David Renfield. Calling in Favors is a good choice I think, as it can also help to find other allies. I think Premonition can be sawped out for it. I would also cut Eureka for Unexpected Courage. Old Book of Lore is already enough to find combo pieces.
