Beat Cop

I've just upgraded my Beat Cop in a Tommy deck. This version of the card synergises really well with his investigator power, because I can use BC++ to take a horror for me in a pinch, then churn through BC++'s health to deal damage every turn and recycle him back into my deck for resources - using this strat I should get at least 3 which is enough to buy in Guard Dog or Tetsuo Mori, 4 if I take a horror on BC++ at some point, and against the right enemy (or an Elder Sign at the right time) then I can get five back to get RGM or Brother Xavier out.

What's more, the fact that I don't have to engage to use BC++'s power means I can knock health off Aloof enemies (hello Stranger) without spending actions while I crack on with something else (setup, investigating, or just hoofing it to the exit at the end of a scenario)!

Unsolved Case

Note that you are allowed to play this card even if you do not have a clue. The ability on this card has two separate effects, and they are not linked by a "then," so both occur if possible irrespective of the other. Separately (but just as importantly), this card when played will always change the board state because the card will always be remove from the game.

H/t to AK45526 on the reddit board for pointing this out.

This feels like it cheapens the entire theme of the weakness, that Joe has got to get to the high shroud location and dump a clue there, plus 2 or 4 resources. In other words, he's gotta do some investigating to solve the case. Just posting 2 to make this go away seems like it may as well be Preston Fairmont's weakness, very light. I reckon I'll house rule this one to need a clue at my table. — Quantallar · 8
Mind over Matter

Always hard to analyze a card before it comes out, but i must say that this seems like a pretty solid 2xp card. As we know from stuff like Lockpicks and Spectral Razor, adding two of your stats together for a test is really awesome. It should be an upgrade for any Seeker, but will obviously be stronger in some than others. The card draw is an added benefit that even sort of seems favorable compared to Manual Dexterity or Overpower. It also let's it combo decently with Ancient Stone. The one knock compared to Manual Dex is that you can't use it for Grasping Hands, or Ants!, unless you draw them during your turn.

I'm especially excited about using this with Ursula, as the ability to evade enemies at 8+ for a whole turn could really save her life. Kind of funny, as the level 1 version is kind of mediocre with her.

EDIT: This card is really good in Crystallizer of Dreams Ursula. You get to evade at an obscene value or actually be able to kill rats for a turn, then you can commit it later for +2 to an evasion. The card draw effect comes in handy in a event heavy deck, as well, especially if you want to go Farsight.

Lost in Time

You might think that you've gotten an incredibly strong start with Rita Young in The Boundary Beyond when You get Peter Sylvestre in your first hand on Coyoacán. "Oh, I can just take a horror and put it on Peter to explore with my second action," you think, "There are basically no consequences!"

Well, think again.

Mind Wipe

This could be a very good card in Dream Eaters with all the "Swarming X" monsters. Getting to 200 characters and think I'm gonna give this a try. Am I at 200 characters now? No? Well if I have xp to spare I'll try the upgraded version too, how's that?

If your intent is to target the host enemy with this and cause the swarm cards to be discarded, I regret to inform you that that is not how the interaction plays out. You do blank the host card, but the swarm cards underneath it don't depend on the swarm keyword from the host to exist, so they stay in play. Swarm made them into copies of the host card when it entered play, but now that they're in play they don't care about it. They're not constantly checking to see if the host still has swarm; it's not a state-based effect, they simply are that enemy, or a snapshot of it as it came into play. Would be neat though. — SGPrometheus · 841
